Li Renjiu is the director of Pharmaceutical and
Biological Department I of the Patent Reexamination Board of the State
Intellectual Property Office (SIPO). Li graduated from the
department of pharmacy of former Peking National Medical School (Peking
University Health Science Center nowadays) with a bachelor's degree in 1995,
and obtained a master's degree at the Research Base of Clinical Medical
Sciences of China-Japan Friendship Hospital in 1998. He started his career in Pharmaceutical
and Biological Invention Examination Department of SIPO in 1998 and
moved to the Patent Reexamination Board of SIPO in 2003. During his tenure in
SIPO, he has served as patent examiner, deputy director and director successively. In 2006, Li Renjiu participated in the IP rights
litigation judgments for one year at Beijing No.1 Intermediate People's Court.
From August to December, 2009, Li was a visiting scholar at Cardozo School of
Law in the United States. At present, he is also a member of National Committee
on the Assessment of the Protected Traditional Chinese Medicinal Products and a
member of Pharmaceutical Intellectual Property Research Committee of Chinese
Pharmaceutical Association.
